Fairs of Himachal PradeshFairs and festivals are an essential part of life in Himachal Pradesh. Dussehra Fair in Kullu Kullu Dushehra entirely reflects the culture of Himachal. It demonstrates the local lifestyle, dance and music. Dussehra celebrated in Kullu has its own distinguishing taste. People from all over the country visit Kullu to enjoy Dussehra. Lavi Fair in Rampur – November Lavi fair is held at Bushahr in Rampur during the month of October or November. In ancient times, traders from Tibet and Kinnaur used to meet here. Horses, chilgoza, mules, pashminas, colts, yaks, woolens, wool and dry fruits are sold in the fair. The fair was started around three hundred years ago. During the day trading is done and at night folk dances and other cultural activities are organized. Renuka fair Renuka fair is held in November for six days in the district of Sirmaur. The fair starts ten days after Diwali festival. A myth is attached that Parshuram, an incarnation of Vishnu and son of Renuka, used to visit here to meet his mother. The fair is held in memory of this meeting. The fair is a perfect place to observe the glimpses of hill culture. People buy and sell walnuts, dried and wet ginger etc. Folk dances, magic show, and Kariyala play are the main attraction of the occasion. Jwalamukhi Fair Jwalamukhi fair is held twice a year during Navratra period in the Kangra valley. People carry red flags to greet the Goddess Jwalamukhi. Dance, wrestling, fire works, cinema shows and bhajan-kirtan are the main attractions of the fair.
