Fairs of TamilnaduTamil Nadu is a state of fairs and festivals. The exaggerating number of festivals can be also due to large number of ancient temples present here. The fairs present a perfect chance to peek into the vibrant cultural treasure of the state. Pongal Pongal is celebrated after the harvesting of the crops. The festival is celebrated by cooking a dish by mixing rice, milk, and jaggery. The festival coincides with the day of Makarsankranti festival in north India. Tourism Fair Tourism fair is organized by Tamil Nadu government to promote tourism in the state. Mahabalipuram Dance Festival The Dance festival is held at the backdrop of Shore temple. The festival coincides with Pongal festival of Tamil Nadu. Dancers and musicians from all over the country congregate here to show their performance. Bharat Natyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakkali, and Odissi dance forms are the main attractions here. Summer Festival Summer festivals of Tamil Nadu are organized at various hill stations of the state. These festivals give a relief from the scorching Sun. Hill stations of Kodaikanal, Yercaud, Yelagiri Hills and Ooty are the favorite of all. The festivals attract domestic and international tourists. Cape Festival Cape festival is held in Kanyakumari on grand scale. Kanyakumari is located at the meeting point of Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean, and Arabian Sea. The tri color of the sea water is clearly evident. Multiple cultural programs, performed by connoisseur artists, are held to make the visit memorable. Chithirai Festival The fair is organized at the temple of Madurai in the month of April-May. A myth prevails that Lord Vishnu, brother of Goddess Minakshi took his sister to lord Sundareshwar for marriage. The festival is held to mark this event.
