Guru Nanak JayantiGurunanak Jayanti is also known as Guruparb. Gurunanak birthday is the, birthday of the first guru of Sikh community. This is one of the most important festival of the Sikh community as well as the followers of Gurunanak. There were ten foremost gurus of the Sikhs. And on this occasion the people remember all of them and celebrate the day with many religious activities. They decorate Gurudwaras as the day is for prayers and celebration. The celebration of the birthdays starts before two days and in those two days the people read Guru Granth Sahib a holy book, non- stop for forty eight hours in Gurudwaras. On this occasion people have a march past, the head of the community carry Sikh flag (Nishan Sahib) and Palki of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. They are followed by the team of singers who sings hymns, team of players who plays different tunes and a Gatka team who displays the swordsmanship. People celebrate the day with prayers, singing chorus, they also use to enjoy the day by wearing new clothes and going Gurudwaras and wishing each other by giving sweets.
