Republic DayRepublic day of India is celebrated every year to mark the enforcement of Constitution of India. The day 26th January was chosen to honor 26th January, 1930 the day declared for ‘Purna Swaraj’ or complete independence. After freedom on 15th August 1947, a drafting committee was made under chairmanship of B.R. Ambedkar to sketch a permanent Indian constitution. The newly made constitution replaced the Government of India Act prevailing from British period and became the law all over the India on 26th January 1950. Every year Republic day is celebrated through out India with grand demonstrations by military, school children and general public. The processions in Delhi are most sought among people of all age. People, from every nook of the country, visit here to take a glimpse of cultural, powerful, and magnificent India. The ceremony starts with flag hoisting, chanting of national anthem and an eloquent speech by prime minister of India. After this the cultural carnival of states, organizations and schools parade on the day passing the India Gate. Indian Military shows its strength by demonstrating lethal weapons and other martial skills. The purpose is to give a message to the world that India is a happy, progressing, and powerful country. The sight of mighty weapons generates patriotic feelings among the spectators. President of India, who is commander in chief of Armed forces, takes salute of the military parade. Important gallantry awards to civilians and military personals are given for their extraordinary bravery. National Bravery Award is given to 14 children who are chosen for extravagant bravery shown at any occasion. A chief guest is also invited to enjoy and honor the occasion in process of building strategic relations with other nations. People who don’t visit the parade in Delhi enjoy it sitting at their home on television or radio. The demonstration is telecasted live on air.
