About Ooty
Ooty is a prime hill station of India is located in Tamil Nadu state. Ooty was earlier ruled by Hoysala king, Vishnu Vardhan, in 1100 AD and later by Tipu sultan. It was developed as hill station by the British to escape from the scorching heat of the Sun. Ooty was earlier called by the name ‘Udhagamandalam’ that was changed to Ooty by the English men.

Ooty is located on the panoramic Nilgiri hills in south India.

Best Time to Visit Ooty
Best time to visit Ooty is from February to May, and September to November. Light woolen clothes are needed during the tour.

Interesting Tourist Spots in Ooty
The pleasant climate and mesmerizing landscapes of Ooty makes it top the chart of hill station tourism in India. It is also famous for the adventure sport facilities, like, trekking, fishing, and hang gliding available to the tourists.

Ooty Botanical Garden : This is a lush green garden having some rare species of plants, like, cork tree, paper bark tree, monkey puzzle tree, and 20 million old fossil trees. The botanical garden has an area of 22 acre which was originally developed for educational purpose but later opened for picnic. A flower show is held every year in the month of May.

Stone House : It is located in Government Arts College and was built by Sir John Sullivan. It was the first masonry house built in the region.

Toda Huts : This is the place where the Toda tribes still dwell. It is located on the hills of the botanical garden.

Wax World : This is wax museum which has wax statues of famous personalities of India.

Saint Stephen’s Church : It is the oldest church in Ooty located near the District court.

Other Places : Rangaswamy Peak offers a panoramic view of the hill side and River Moyar flowing nearby. A watch tower located nearby adds to the beauty of the place. Tea gardens and the golf course are worth visit during the tour.
