Uttaranchal Hill StationAbout Uttaranchal Uttaranchal was carved out of Uttar Pradesh as 27th state of India in 2000 AD. In the beginning, name of the state was Uttaranchal that was changed to Uttarakhand as it is named in ancient Hindu scriptures. It is said that epic Mahabharata was written here by sage Vyas during the stay of Pandavas. Uttaranchal state is bounded by Uttar Pradesh, Nepal, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. The places have adventurous and religious importance. Ranikhet : Ranikhet derives its name from Rani Padmini of a local kingdom who stayed at the place.
