Red Fort in Delhi is one of the seven wonders of India. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was originally known as the Qila-I-Mubark. It is located at Netaji Marg, Old Delhi. It was built by mughal emperor Shah Jahan between the years of 1638 - 1648. It is one of the most opulent mughal forts in the country. Also known as Lal Qila or Delhi Fort, it attracts a large gathering of tourists from all over the world. It is wildly acclaimed for its architectural brilliance. The fort complex houses many beautiful palaces. The fort complex depicts very high level of art form, ornamental work and architectural excellence. The fort complex is an excellent combination of Persian, mughal, Indian and European art styles. The beauty of the fort complex never fails to impress its visitors.
Some of important buildings & palaces within the Red Fort complex are Diwan-I-Aam (the Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-I-Khas (the Hall of Private Audience), Khas Mahal (Private Palace), Moti Masjid (Pearl Mosque), Rang Mahal (Palace of Colors - Imtiaz Mahal), Hayat-Baksh Bagh, Hamam, Mumtaz Mahal, Red Fort Archeological Museum, Red Fort Museum of Arms & Weapons, etc. A Sound & Light Show describing Mughal history is a tourist highlight in the evenings.
