The Kangra Valley Train TourDuration : 9 hours Destinations : Pathankot - Jawalamukhi - Kangra - Palampur - Joginder Nagar Kangra Toy Train, running from Pathankot to Joginder Nagar, runs through mountains and stone built masonry bridges on narrow gorges. The train covers a distance of 164 kilometers in 9 hours approximately. Unlike the Shimla Toy Train running mostly through tunnels, Kangra toy Trains runs through the scenic beauty of panoramic hills. The passengers have a clear view of snow clad mountains standing majestically at the sides of train. The exotic sights are a good compensation to the valuable time invested by the tourists. Kangra valley is a rectangular area, full of pristine hills engulfed in thick pine tree forests and high mountains standing at a distance. The valley has congenial climate with good chance to see some wild animals around. The train journey starts from Pathankot, a bordering town of Punjab having broad-gauge rail track. Starting from here the trains soon chug up to higher altitude. After Jwalamukhi station the train takes curves and passes through Dhaundni and Daulatpur tunnel before reaching the Kangra station. At Baijnath Paprola the gradient is so high that the train could barely pull its four coaches. The train passes through Bhir gorge giving a shiver in the nerves. Then the train reaches Ajhu Station which is the highest point of the route. After this the train reaches its final destination at Joginder Nagar.
